Christopher K. Williams, CPA

Chris was born in New Bern and attended New Bern High School. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Chris began his public accounting career in Wilmington, obtaining his CPA certificate in 1977 and returned to New Bern in 1978. His areas of concentration are taxation of individuals and closely-held businesses, estates and trusts.

In 2003, recognizing that many clients did not have a trusted advisor to turn to for comprehensive financial services, Chris completed education and licensing requirements with the NC Department of Insurance and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and established CWS Financial Group, LLC to provide a full range of services in this area. Chris has maintained membership in the AICPA and NCACPA and served on the boards of various civic organizations and social clubs over the years. He is married with two adult children.

Steven N. Scarborough, CPA

Steve is a native of Havelock, North Carolina and attended East Carolina University from 1978 – 1981. He then transferred to Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where in 1983 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Steve joined the firm as a staff accountant in 1986 and earned his CPA license in 1987. He is currently the partner in charge of the Jacksonville Office and is a member of the AICPA and NCACPA. He successfully completed the Certificate of Educational Achievement in Governmental Accounting and Auditing Program in 1992. His primary focus is to assist businesses through a variety of accounting, auditing, tax and management advisory services. Steve is married and has two children.

Charles S. Smith, CPA
NC License # 29441


Charles, a native of New Bern, graduated from East Carolina University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Accounting. He joined the firm in 1997 and earned his CPA license in 2002. He has been a Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor since 2001 and assists small businesses with the installation, training and monitoring of the Quickbooks software. He also focuses on taxation, management advisory services and auditing and bookkeeping services for non-profits and governmental units. He is a member of the AICPA and NCACPA. In addition he has served on the board of the Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation for the past five years. Charles is married with two young children.


W. Randall (Randy) Gray, CPA
NC License # 18591


Randy is an Eastern North Carolina native. He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro, NC in 1984 and then from East Carolina University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  Randy received his CPA certificate in 1990 and he has practiced in New Bern since 1988, 13 of those years with a national CPA firm.  His concentration is in the taxation of individuals, closely-held businesses, estates and trusts as well as management advisory and bookkeeping services for those entities.  His experience also includes non-profit and governmental accounting. Randy maintains memberships in the AICPA and NCACPA and is a very active member of the community. He is a past president and current treasurer of the New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club and he is also very involved in the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce, serving on its board twice and is a past chairman of the finance and membership committees.  He is married with three children.
